Dr. Robert Caveney Talks Knees and Hips with OPALs (Older Persons with Active Lifestyles)

Guest speaker and luncheon brings a packed house to OVMC.

Dr. Robert Caveney, Chairman of Orthopedics at Ohio Valley Medical Center, presented information on joint health with the young at heart at Older People With Active Lifestyles  (OPALs) group on Wednesday, April 20, in the Nurses Residence Auditorium at OVMC.

The topic of the luncheon was on hip and knee replacements and how to stay active as we age. Dr. Caveney has practiced General Orthopedics in his hometown of Wheeling, W.Va., for 34 years. He is a Fellow American College Of Surgeons, Graduate Of WVU And WVU School Of Medicine, Graduate Of UPMC – Dept. Of Orthopedic Surgery, Board Certified – American Board Of Orthopedic Surgery specializing in joint replacement, along with all aspects of general orthopedic surgery.

OPALs  began 25 years ago and is sponsored by OVMC and East Ohio Regional Hospital. Members participate in free exercise classes, educational luncheons, and great trips. More than 1,300 members receive a quarterly newsletter that keeps them up to date on OPALs and hospital events. To be a member you must be 55 years of age or older.
