OPALs Heading to Hawaii in 2018Wednesday, January 10, 2018
It might be cold and snowy but the OPALs (Older People With Active Lifestyles) group is planning a trip of a lifetime to Hawaii in October 2018 for all its members, their guests, and anyone who might like to join this great organization. Those interested in the Hawaii trip are invited to attend an informational meeting set for Wednesday, January 31 at 2:00 pm at OVMC in Conference Room A adjacent to the cafeteria. OPALs, sponsored by OVMC and EORH is partnering with Bill Bryson and Uniglobe Ohio Valley Travel on this trip.
Uniglobe staff will be present at the meeting to review all the details of this ten-day trip set for October 18-28 that includes a two-night stay at Aulani Disney Resort and Spa in Ko Olina Hawaii. There will be time to spend on the beach, dive into the pool, or relax with a massage. Aulani features three pools, a lazy river, multiple dining and lounge options as well as movie nights and more. Then, journey from one exotic island to the next on Norwegian Cruise Lines' Pride of America for a seven-night cruise. All will enjoy the beauty and splendor of Maui, Hilo, Kona, and Kauai as well as the Napali Coast.
According to Mary Velez, OPALs Director “This is a perfect opportunity for someone who has always wanted to travel to Hawaii to join a fun group of people. Marilyn Thalman will be our tour escort and she and the OPALs group always pride themselves in making everyone feel like part of the family.”
The cost of the trip ranges from $3,895 per person for inside cabin at double rates, to $4,500 for balcony cabin at double rates. This covers the cost of the roundtrip motorcoach to Pittsburgh, airfare, 2 nights at Aulani, 7-night cruise, meals and entertainment onboard ship, port fees, and taxes.
Island music, leis, tropical drinks and Hawaiin meatballs and punch await all attendees of the info meeting on January 31 in Conference Room A near the cafeteria. Please call Mary Velez at 304-234-8643 to get more information about becoming an OPALs member or to sign up to attend the meeting. In the event of inclement weather, the meeting will be canceled if Ohio County Schools are canceled. The meeting will be held if there is just a two-hour delay.
