Ohio Valley Medical Center's Radiologic Technology Program welcomed ten new students for the Class of 2012. These new students will join the program's senior students who will graduate in June 2011.

Established in 1954, OVMC's Radiologic Technology Program is a 24-month clinical and didactic based instructional curriculum. Along with scheduled classroom time, the program incorporates clinical experience at Ohio Valley Medical Center and East Ohio Regional Hospital to develop the theory, skills and aptitude of modern radiographers.

Clinical experience includes diagnostic radiology; surgical procedures; mobile imaging and radiation protection; plus familiarization with ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, CT scanning, nuclear medicine, and radiation oncology.

"In today's job market, clinical education and experience is of critical importance to the future success of our students," said Catherine Ball, program director. "All of our students will graduate with over three thousand hours of comprehensive instruction. With this extensive experience, our program continues to be extremely successful in producing skilled and prepared radiographers."

The students will graduate with approximately 1,500 didactic hours and 2,300 clinical hours. After completing the program, the graduates will be eligible to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification exam.

"Our students continue to prove themselves year after year," said Ball. "On the national registry examination, many of our students' scores fall in the ninetieth percentile. We continue to bring in dedicated and committed students who leave our program to provide the best possible healthcare services to their patients."
