The BirthCenter at OVMC is a family-centered birthing unit including a labor and delivery suite, postpartum and gynecology wing as well as a newborn nursery. Our certified nursing staff are skilled in inpatient obstetrics, lactation specialties and neonatal nursing. Your entire birthing experience, from labor to delivery to recovery, takes place in one of our spacious birthing room where your support person is welcome around the clock.
New siblings are welcome to visit and help introduce their new baby brother or sister to the world. All labor and delivery rooms as well as postpartum rooms are private accommodations. Your newborn may stay with you as much as you like but can also be taken care of in our Nursery anytime you wish to rest or need to be away from your room.
The BirthPlace at East Ohio Regional Hospital
East Ohio Regional Hospital's the BirthPlace is a family-centered provider of maternal/neonatal health services. Our birthing center is unique to our hospital as your labor, delivery and recovery experience including your post-partum stay occurs in one room. When you are admitted to our maternity unit, we hope to provide a comfortable and caring environment for your experience. At the BirthPlace, our highly trained nursing staff is certified in all areas of neonatal care including labor and delivery, nursery and post-partum care. We believe the sooner your newborn is placed in your arms, the sooner bonding can begin.
We encourage our mothers to have their babies "room-in" and invite new fathers to spend the night in order to provide an opportunity of family bonding without the stressors of visitors. We welcome other family, friends and new siblings during visitation hours. The BirthPlace also has board-certified lactation consultants on staff that will help assure successful breastfeeding by providing support, education and care both before, during and after delivery. Our lactation consultants continue to work with you and your newborn even after you go home.
Our mission is to assure accessible, high quality and comprehensive family-centered care delivered with care and compassion in a safe, respectful environment. The BirthPlace staff accepts the responsibility of providing clinical excellence through continuing education and the use of new and developing technology in order to provide our patients and their new families with the care they need so that they may be healthy and contributing members of our community.
