Young people are special, and so are the care and attention they need when they are hospitalized. Ohio Valley Medical Center's newly renovated and dedicated pediatric unit brings together specialists from a wide variety of disciplines to provide comprehensive health care for infants, children and adolescents. From primary to acute care services, child/adolescent psychiatry to rehabilitation, and behavioral health to endocrinology and wellness, our pediatric staff is dedicated to providing quality services to those who need us most - around the clock. Three hospitalists are a welcome addition to the unit, and board-certified pediatricians work closely with other pediatricians, specialists and subspecialists to provide the best care possible for their patients. A primary focus of the unit is family-centered care. Parents are welcome to stay with their child, and families are encouraged to participate in all aspects of the child's care. This helps the family understand more about the child’s condition and feel comfortable providing any necessary care at home after discharge.
The unit includes a playroom with toys for small children. Tutoring is available to help children keep up with their schoolwork during a hospital stay. Special attention is always given to the emotional and developmental needs of these young patients and their families.
Our dedicated pediatric unit and staff provide:
- Primary care pediatrics
- Pediatric subspecialty care
- Specialized and dedicated hospital care for children
- Psychiatric and behavioral health services for children and adolescents
