Respiratory and Occupational Lung Disease Clinic

The Respiratory & Occupational Lung Disease Clinic at East Ohio Regional Hospital is your path toward better breathing!

Our team at the Respiratory & Occupational Lung Disease Clinic at East Ohio Regional Hospital is with you every step of the way. Get started now! Our first step is to help you get tested for lung disease. Even if you are not showing symptoms of a respiratory problem, you should get tested to establish a baseline for future comparisons. If you have worked in coal mines, have breathing problems or have worked in an occupation that may have exposed you to potential breathing hazards, a screening for respiratory health problems is recommended. Examples of work places include, but are not limited to:

  • Coal miner
  • Chemical worker
  • Glass worker
  • Welder
  • Pottery worker
  • Construction worker
  • Mechanic
  • Steelworker

Our goal is to assist you in identifying your qualifying benefits, either state or federal, from the U.S. Government if your exposure was during work or a work-related problem. Our outreach benefits counselor can help you identify the benefits for which you qualify, fill out necessary forms, refer you to an attorney if necessary and schedule follow-ups as needed. Testing to qualify for assistance through the Respiratory & Occupational Lung Disease Clinic includes a breathing test, a blood sample to check oxygen levels, an EKG and chest x-rays. Dr. Melvin Saludes, medical director and Dr. Attila Lenkey are highly-trained to evaluate your test results, examine you and make a determination on your pulmonary status.

Our team, from physicians to counselors, are specialists in occupational lung disease. Our clinic offers a pulmonary rehabilitation program that develops an individualized plan for you, such as educational courses, supervised exercise programs, breathing retraining, nutritional needs and support to meet your day-to-day challenges of living with a chronic lung disorder. If you're worried about service costs, we can help! A grant from the Ohio Department of Health and Human Services is available to supplement payment for qualifying coal miners and others suffering from occupational lung disease. Eligibility for these funds is based on income and need. No one will be denied because of inability to pay. Most insurances also cover the cost of all clinic services.

We're with you every step of the way! If you are interested in more information about the Occupational Lung Disease Clinic or would like to have us contact your physician on your behalf, please call 740-633-4715 or toll free 1-877-633-4715.
