OVMC Auxiliary Makes Final Plans for Holiday GalaMonday, December 9, 2013
Ohio Valley Medical Center’s auxiliary is getting ready to kick off the holiday season with its largest fundraiser of the year, the annual Holiday Gala. This gala typically marks the beginning of the holiday season in the Ohio Valley. Committee co-chairs, Gina Smith and Nanci Walker believe this year’s event will be the best ever! The festive, black-tie event will be held at the Wheeling Country Club on Saturday, November 23rd. The theme for this year’s gala is “Magical Illusions”.
Each year, the gala committee chooses an honoree for their dedication and service to the hospital. This year’s honor goes to Dr. Howard Shackelford who will also be featured on the OVMC/EORH float in this year’s Fantasy of Lights Parade which takes place the night before the gala event.
A silent auction, organized by Kelly Bettem and Libby Slater will take place throughout the evening. The auction will feature a wide variety of items including “one of a kind experiences” and will afford gala attendees a chance to do some holiday unique shopping.
Guests will be entertained by the Ohio Valley Dancers under the direction of Peter J. Lim. The dancers include Shawn McFarland, Allison Saseen, Dr. & Mrs. Howard (Joyce) Shackelford, Peter J. Lim, Jazlyn Haloszka, Dr. Ryan Busch, Tiffany Dougherty, Dr. Dan Suders and Dr. Jennifer Sheyman. The Ohio Valley Dancers are a long standing tradition at the Holiday Gala and often feature physicians and employees of OVMC.
