Dr. Watkins Named Medical Director of Anesthesia at OVMC and East Ohio Regional HospitalFriday, April 4, 2014
WHEELING, W.Va. – Ohio Valley Health Services & Education is pleased to introduce Dr. Matthew J. Watkins as the medical director for anesthesia services.
A graduate of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, Watkins most recently served as medical director of clinical anesthesia for the department of anesthesiology at the West Virginia University Health Sciences Center in Morgantown. He retired in 2001 as a Major of the U.S. Army Medical Corp. after 21 years of service in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Under Watkins’ leadership through AmSol, LLC, an anesthesia management and consulting company partnered with OVMC and East Ohio Regional Hospital, patients receive a tailored, personalized approached to their anesthesia experience. The hospital’s team of physicians review patient outcomes that lend itself to a high level of patient safety and satisfaction.

Watkins is board certified by the American Society of Anesthesiologists and is a member of the International Trauma Anesthesia and Critical Care Society, the American Association of Physician Specialists, the American College of Physician Executives, and the American Association of Clinical Directors. He is also a member of the West Virginia State Society of Anesthesiologists and the West Virginia Medical Society and has held political appointments with the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services.
