OVMC Medical Education Director Earns National CertificationTuesday, March 31, 2015
Trina Kropka, the administrative director of medical education at Ohio Valley Medical Center, recently received certification from the Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education (C-TAGME).
The C-TAGME organization upholds and supports national educational standards for graduate medical education administration. Kropka is only the 39th professional to receive this certification in the country for graduate medical education professional in the American Osteopathic Association.
“We are extremely proud of Trina’s efforts in furthering her career in medical education administration,” said Dr. Rick Greco, director of medical education at OVMC. “This certification proves that Trina is well educated in not only medical education but also the compliancy issues related to running a residency program.”
Kropka oversees all medical education responsibilities associated with the osteopathic residency program at OVMC. Her oversight includes securing resident rotations, coordinating evaluations of residents, organizing rotation of medical educations students, and serving as a liaison with the hospital and residency program.
“My dedication to medical education and administration inspired me to take my career to the next level and earn this elite certification,” said Kropka. “I look forward to advancing my professional goals to benefit the residency program at OVMC.”
Ohio Valley Medical Center's graduate medical education program offers three osteopathic medicine residency tracks: internal medicine residency, emergency medicine residency and a combined internal/emergency medicine program. All osteopathic residents train side-by-side on an equal basis with their colleagues while gaining the additional skills unique to osteopathic medicine. The curriculum includes inpatient rotations balanced by rotations with physicians in their offices.
