Employees Receive Sterile Processing CertificationsThursday, January 14, 2016
Ohio Valley Medical Center and East Ohio Regional Hospitals are proud to announce that five staff members passed their Sterile Processing Certification national exam.
OVMC employees, Maxine Burtrand, and Britney Boyer, and EORH employees, Shari Sedilko, Crystal Brown, and Patty Ray all received passing scores through The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. CBSPD is a nonprofit Certification Board which plans, develops, and administers competency-based "International" certification examinations for personnel performing cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and inventory management activities, regardless of the setting. The CBSPD is administered by a Board of Directors who have extensive expertise in the profession of healthcare sterile processing and distribution.
“We are very proud that our staff has voluntarily obtained this certification,” said Erika Klarr, Surgical Inventory Coordinator/Sterile Processing Manager at East Ohio Regional Hospital. “Doing so shows professional competence and pride in the profession of Sterile Processing.”
Since its inaugural examination in 1991, the CBSPD has credentialed over 31,000 personnel internationally. There are currently over 13,500 active certificants. The CBSPD is a member of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE). The CBSPD's Technician certification is accredited by The National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), which is widely known as the "Source for Credentialing Solutions".
