Skilled and Rehabilitation Care
The Skilled and Rehabilitation Unit at East Ohio Regional Hospital is a 50-bed unit that provides care for patients who require additional care not provided in an acute care setting before returning home and back to life. The unit is the area's only skilled care facility directly connected to an acute care hospital. The skilled and rehabilitation unit includes free television and phone service to all patients with therapeutic mattresses. Patients have access to in-house emergency services, laboratory and outpatient services, respiratory therapists and other radiology services 24 hours a day. In addition, IV therapy and wound care services are available at the bedside.
The unit's interdisciplinary approach to patient care includes nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech, dietary, pastoral, social services, activities, physicians and visiting nurses. The unit also provides beauty shop services.
The unit's goal is to return patients to their optimum level of independence. This includes dressing themselves, getting around with walkers or other aids and safely getting in and out of the shower or the bathtub. Patients are encouraged to wear their own clothes to the unit as part of the transition toward home. In addition, family members are welcome to visit and participate in the patients' therapies and care. Our goal is to provide quality care to help each patient return to their highest level of independence to return to their home.
